Germanic-Australian Pioneers on THE YARRA: Clifton Hill, Abbotsford, Collingwood, Fitzroy, Richmond, Toorak, South Yarra, Prahran, Sth & Pt Melbourne

From the 1850s till about the 1890s YARRABERG was a district of Richmond which blended upriver into East Collingwood (Abbotsford. One of my own great great Grandmothers died in a most unfortunate circumstances in tent at Yarraberg in 1860.

But Yarraberg had the well-to-do as well as the unfortunate.

I am extending the use of the term to cover the story of the many German settlers on the lower Yarra Valley in the Nineteenth Century up until about the time of the Great War.
